How the Pool Pump Program Works
1. Central Hudson Peak Perks efficiency switch installed
Installation of a program efficiency switch near your facility’s pool pump does not require an appointment if the pump is safely accessible. There’s no charge for the installation, which generally takes a little over an hour.
2. Wireless signal sent
When demand for electricity in the Hudson Valley peaks, we’ll send a wireless signal that remotely activates the switch, temporarily turning off your pool pump for a short period of time.
3. Conduct business as usual
Conservation events will last for at least one-half hour and may last up to four hours.
4. Balance the demand for electricity
During the time program participants’ pool pumps are off, the demand for electricity is reduced. As a result, less electricity needs to be generated and transmitted to your facility, which keeps energy costs lower and reduces carbon emissions and other pollutants associated with electricity generation.
5. Your facility’s Pool Pump compressor switches back on
Once the event is over, your facility’s pool pump automatically returns to standard operation.
6. We reward you for your help
Shortly after installation of your efficiency switch, you receive a $125 Enrollment Reward check. You also receive a prorated Annual Reward check of up to $75 after the close of the program season and each following year your business participates.
